Peace talk: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind AP and Orissa zone president Moulana Malik Motassim Khan addressing a public meeting in Vijayawada on Tuesday.

VIJAYAWADA: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has favoured cancellation of recognition of political parties which have affiliations or links with the terrorist organisations. The JIH also wants the Election Commission of India to prohibit the politicians who have association with the terrorists and terrorist outfits, from contesting elections.

The JIH conducted a public meeting as a part of Peace and Justice Caravan, a nation-wide campaign for peace and justice, here on Tuesday.

Addressing the gathering, JIH Andhra Pradesh-Orissa zone president Moulana Malik Motassim Khan expressed the view that politicians and law enforcing agencies were equally responsible for the terrorist activities in the country.

The politicians victimised the individuals, the organisations and the communities for short term political gains, he said adding that solution lay in long term civilian movement on a par with freedom struggle and cleansing of political system in the country.

Pointing out that success of any democracy would depend on satisfaction and happiness of minorities of the land, he stressed on the need for strengthening the democratic institutions and making people feel that their voice was heard and their concerns were valued.

CPI city secretary K. Subba Raju, CPI (M) floor leader in the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) general body Ch. Babu Rao, TDP State secretary Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and others spoke.
