Temple festival begins today

KOCHI: It is festival time again at Sree Poornathrayeesa Temple in Thripunithura and the music and Kathakali aficionados have already reached the town for the week-long extravaganza of temple arts. Besides the usual temple arts like pancharimelam, nadaswaram and thayambaka, it also is the venue of some ancient arts like Ottanthulal and Pava Kathakali.

Among the top vocalists and instrumentalists who would be performing here include Kavalam Sreekumar on Thursday; T. M. Krishna on Saturday; Hyderabad sisters on Sunday and B. Sasikumar and Balabhaskar with a violin duet on Monday.
