The Minister performs ‘bhoomi puja’ for starting restoration and preservation works NELLORE: Archaeology and Museums and Tourism Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy laid foundation for taking up restoration and conservation works for Sri Perumalla Swamy temple in Prabhagiripatnam village in Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore district on Tuesday. The Archaeology and Museums Department has allocated Rs. 12.25 lakh for taking up restoration works in the ‘devastanam’. The Minister also conducted ‘bhoomi puja’ for starting restoration and preservation works being taken up for Shiva temple (Shivalayam) at a cost of Rs. 14.60 lakh in the same village, Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the government has allocated funds for restoration of heritage temples in the State. Archaeology and Museums Department director P. Chenna Reddy said proposals have been made with Rs. 60 lakh for developing and renovating Perumalla Swamy temple as a heritage monument and the Shiva temple with Rs. 45 lakh. The department is also planning to renovate Irukala Parameswari Devi temple and Alaganatha Swamy shrine with about Rs. 77 lakh in the district, said the director. Zilla Parishad chairman Kakani Goverdhan Reddy, deputy director (Museums) J.S.B. Keshava and others accompanied the Minister.
