By-election in Pale today

PANAJI: A by-election in the Pale Assembly constituency in north Goa will be held on Wednesday.
The former Minister and BJP rebel Suresh Amonkar, who is contesting as independent, may play a crucial role in the main contest between Pratap Gauns of the ruling Congress and Pramod Sawant (BJP). Mr. Amonkar won the seat two consecutive times but was defeated in the last general elections by Gurudas Gauns (Congress), whose death has caused the by-election.
Votes will be counted in Panaji and the results declared on Saturday.
