Hospital management system for 270 government institutions

MERITORIOUS: P.W.C. Davidar, IT Secretary, presenting the best outgoing student prize at the graduation ceremony of the Allied Health Sciences of CMC in Vellore on Monday.

VELLORE: All details about patients will be computerised under the hospital management system (HMS) to be implemented in 270 government hospitals in Tamil Nadu, according to P.W.C. Davidar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology of the Tamil Nadu government.

Delivering graduation address at the graduation ceremony of the Allied Health Sciences of Christian Medical College here on Monday, Mr. Davidar said that under the HMS, every outpatient in each of the hospitals would be given a computerised OP slip and an exclusive identification number. All health details about the patient would be incorporated into the system. Details of all patients at primary health centres in the State would be fed into the HMS in due course, he said.

Mr. Davidar gave away prizes to the best outgoing students in 27 diploma courses: Rajesh Anandaraj (bachelor of medical records science), Diana S. (B.Sc. in medical laboratory technology), Jane Liew Zi Jing (B.P.T.), Bevin Vinay Kumar V.N. (best all-rounder of B.P.T. course), Aruna R. (A.S. Johnson Memorial Prize for Occupational Therapy student), Sarah Joseph (B.O.T.), Christina Jaya Thangam T. (diploma in M.R.T.), Rudresh C. (PG diploma in M.R.T. (nuclear medicine), Adrin Joanna E. & Jeremiah Chrisbian Samuel J. (diploma in anaesthesia technology), Abarna K. (PG diploma in medical microbiology), Savina K. (PG diploma in dialysis therapy), Ranjith P. (diploma in prosthetics & orthotics), Mamata Rani Nag (PG diploma in community health management), Kyrmenskhem Nongkhlaw (PG diploma in health economics, policy & financial management).

(PG diploma in hospital administration), Dhanalakshmi G. (diploma in optometry), Santhosh Kumar R. (diploma in MRT, radiotherapy), Midhun Mohan (diploma in critical care therapy), Uma Maheswari D. (diploma in hospital pharmacy), Chithran A. (PG diploma in clinical pharmacy), Sellakkannu S. (diploma in hospital equipment maintenance), Lijo John (PG diploma in clinical pastoral counselling), Arthi Priyadharshini C. (PG diploma in perfusion technology), Kavitha P. (PG diploma in dietetics), Jansirani D. (diploma in hearing, language & speech), Helen K. Achu Thomas (Parampotti Tharien Kurien Prize in Scripture 2008).

Suranjan Bhattacharji, director, CMC Hospital, introduced the chief guest. Dolly Daniel, acting principal, administered the pledge to the graduates. Kuryan George presented the general proficiency award winners.

Asha Mary Jesudasan, vice-principal, presented the prize-winners.
