Chennai: The Chennai Super Kings IPL cricket team announced the launch of its exclusive fan club ‘Kings Club,’ here on Monday. The Kings Club is Super Kings’ official club membership programme for adults and children, designed to build on the popularity of Super Kings, and to give its fans an opportunity to be part of an exclusive community closely associated with the team. The Kings Club was launched by T.S. Raghupathy, Executive President, India Cements Ltd., in the presence of K.V.P. Baskar, Operations Director, South, Aircel Cellular Limited, team ambassador Krishnamachari Srikkanth and percussionist Sivamani. Dhoni’s wishesSuper Kings’ captain M.S. Dhoni said in his message, “I am happy about the launch of our official membership programme Kings Club. “I am sure you will find the club a great window to share the passion that we all have for the team. I look forward to have you all as part of this special family.” Membership levelsThe membership programme consists of two membership levels — senior and junior. Membership for a year is priced at Rs. 500 for school children and Rs. 1000 for others, after which it can be renewed. Membership options for those outside the city and State will be available in the near future. India Cements Executive President Raghupathy said, “The programme is simple to join, and its unique benefits give fans an opportunity to be close to their team and heroes. “Our aim is to include all fans, which is why our pricing is so affordable.” Membership benefits include home ticket priority access and discounts for IPL home matches, invites to practice sessions, welcome gift hampers, participation in special events, newsletters, discounts on team merchandise available on the E store, photo opportunities with the cricketers, coaching clinics, online gaming, blogging and many more. Broad fan baseSrikkanth, who spoke on the occasion, said Super Kings had a broad fan base across the nation. “I am very happy that this dream is becoming a reality. The IPL was a fantastic experience for me. I travelled with the team everywhere, and was delighted to see we had fans across the country, and abroad as well. “There was a phenomenal response to the matches here in Chennai, and we are hoping to achieve a target of at least 1 million members. “A skipper like Dhoni has tremendously added to the team’s appeal and fan base.” Srikkanth also went on to praise the performance of Dhoni and the Indian team in the ongoing ODI series against England. “The team has played aggressive cricket. The openers — both in batting and bowling — have been brilliant, as has the rest of the team. Praising Yuvraj“Most importantly, the partnerships have worked very well for the team, and Yuvraj Singh’s batting in the series so far has been exceptional,” he said. The fan club’s logo was unveiled by Sivamani. Membership forms for enrolling will be available from November 28 at select outlets of Café Coffee Day and Aircel. Forms, once they are filled in, can be dropped off at various collection centres, after which memberships cards will be dispatched within a week.
