Getafe holds Barcelona

MADRID: Seydou Keita scored a second-half equaliser on Sunday for Barcelona to draw 1-1 with Getafe and see its winning streak in the Spanish league football halted at nine matches.

Keita headed in Daniel Alves’ cross to the far post in the 72nd minute at the Camp Nou stadium to extend Barcelona’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 17 games.

Barcelona has 29 points; Real Madrid has 26, followed by Villarreal on 25. Valencia and Sevilla are both on 24.

Getafe’s Manu del Moral gathered his own blocked pass to curl a 20-meter shot beyond goalkeeper Victor Valdes to score in the 19th minute.

Barcelona struggled to respond with Bojan Krkic unable to find any rhythm along the right flank and Xavi Hernandez turning the ball over in midfield.

Samuel Eto’o hit the bar from long range in the 39th, before coach Pep Guardiola brought on Thierry Henry for Krkic in the 56th. Valdes let Juan Angel Albin’s high shot slip through his hands in the 70th but it flashed past by the post. The host then dominated, with Henry and Carles Puyol both heading wide from close range after Keita’s goal.

Totti scores
