Arumugam condemns stir
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: The State Agriculture Minister, Veerapandi S. Arumugam, on Monday condemned the agitation staged by a section of daily wage earners in front of the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Agricultural University in Coimbatore.
In a statement, Mr. Arumugam said that the services of nearly 92 temporary security personnel in the Agriculture Department and 1,083 daily wage earners in the Horticulture Department were regularised.
At a time when a report from the University’s Registrar had been sought, and scrutinising it, it was unfortunate that an agitation was staged due to instigation by a political party.
He appealed to the workers not to indulge in such activities, which would spoil their future.
