Bench grants interim stay

Staff Reporter

MADURAI: A Division Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday stayed a single judge’s order quashing the latest tender notifications issued by the Pudukottai and Sivaganga district units of Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) to sell eatables and collect empty bottles from retail vending outlets of Indian Made Foreign Liquor.

A Division Bench comprising Justice K. Ravirajapandian and Justice P.P.S. Janarthana Raja granted the interim stay after admitting the writ appeals filed by the District Managers of TASMAC.

The appellants claimed that there would be a major setback in its revenue collection, used for various welfare schemes, if the Bench did not grant stay.
