NELLORE: The State government has sanctioned a mega heritage tourism project for Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore and Chittoor districts with Rs. 46.60 crore. In all, 18 temples located in the two districts will be developed under the project, said the District Tourism Officer M. Nagabushanam. Speaking to the newsmen here on Monday, he said the shrines would be developed as tourism spots by arranging parks, landscapes, drinking water, signage boards, painting, illumination, developing of konerus (temple ponds) and approach roads. The Panchayat Raj (Engineering Department) officials would take up the works under the supervision of AP Tourism Department. Herbal gardenSeven temples in Nellore district and 11 devastanams in Chittoor district would be developed. A ‘Herbal Garden’ would be developed at Narasimha Konda under the project in Nellore district, said the tourism officer. Information and Public Relations Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy will lay foundation stone for taking up the works to Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Penchalakona village in the district on November 25. The development of all the 18 temples would be completed in one-and-a-half year, the DTO said.
