Sri Lankan fishermen apprehended

CHENNAI: The Coast Guard apprehended five fishermen of Sri Lanka who were fishing in the sea near Mahabalipuram on Monday.

Police said the Coast Guard personnel intercepted a mechanised boat and took into custody Don Ranjith (38), Sathya Shyam (38), Varagula Suriya (42), Rankjith Dharna Thilaga (41) and Douglas (49).

They were handed over to the Kasimedu police for further investigation. — Special Correspondent
