Date for filing claims extended

CHENNAI: The last date for filing claims and objections in the electoral rolls, which are being revised now, is December 2.

Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta said that the Election Commission of India had extended the time for filing claims and objections for rolls with January 1, 2009, as the qualifying date. There will be no change in the publication of the final electoral rolls – January 10.

Mr. Gupta said booth-level agents of political parties could furnish information to booth-level officers or AEROs and EROs till December 2 regarding mismatch of images and missing or surplus names in rolls. — Special Correspondent
