BJP’s appeal to government

CHENNAI: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday called upon the State government to ensure that concessions meant for Scheduled Castes, particularly Arundathiyars, were enjoyed only by the community belonging to the Hindu religion.

In a statement, L. Ganesan, president, complained that some persons, despite being Christians for all practical purposes, were able to get certificates stating that they were Hindus. He welcomed the government’s move to create reservation for certain groups of Adi Dravidars within the reservation for SCs. — Special Correspondent
