NELLORE: Vikrama Simhapuri University (VSU) Vice-Chancellor C.R. Visweswara Rao has asked students to work together with Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and concentrate on rural development. Speaking at a seminar on ‘University-NGO Interface: the emerging scenario’, organised by VSU management here on Monday, the Vice-Chancellor said the universities should not be just teaching institutes, but facilitate the students to have extension programmes by having tie-ups with NGOs. He said the objective of the seminar was to facilitate an interface between the students and NGO representatives. He said the extension, out reach and advocacy should be part of the study material for students. The programme taken up by VSU will act as a research work for students of MSW, M.Sc. in organic chemistry and M.Sc. marine biology groups in the university, Prof. Rao appealed to the NGOs to help the students in this regard.
