Andhra in contention
VISAKHAPATNAM: Left-arm spinner B. Sudhakar struck well in the second innings after being involved in an important stand earlier in the day to keep Andhra in contention in the elite Group ‘B’ match of the Cooch-Behar Trophy all-India under-19 cricket tournament, here on Monday. Vidarbha was 59 for five at stumps.
Andhra conceded a lead of 19 runs in the first innings on the third day morning, scoring 285. M. Ajay Kumar (46, 3x4, 2x6) and Sudhakar (32, 5x4) added 56 runs for the ninth-wicket and G. Brahmananda Reddy remained not out on 22 (3x4) to keep the host’s hopes alive.
The scores: Vidarbha 304 & 59 for five in 27 overs (Sankalp Kamble 45, B. Sudhakar four for 12) vs. Andhra 285 in 140.4 overs (Ch. Praneeth Kumar 81, M. Ajay Kumar 46, D. Siva Kumar 36, B.
