Award for former Bhutan king

KOLKATA: Visva Bharati has decided to confer its highest award, “Deshikottama” to the former King of Bhutan, Jigme Singye Wangchuk.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be handing over the awards on December 6.

Among others who will be conferred the award are former Visva Bharati Vice-Chancellor, Amlan Dutta, economist J. Endrez, historian Irfan Habib and theatre personality Habib Tanvir.
