BSP to contest all seats in byelections

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati will field candidates in all the seven Assembly constituencies in the State where byelections are to be held on December 27.

State BSP president Marasandra Muniyappa told presspersons here on Monday that the party had identified candidates to contest the seven seats.

Their names had been sent to party president Mayawati for approval. The party would contest the byelections on its own, he said.

Mr. Muniyappa said Ms. Mayawati would visit Mysore on December 21 and address party workers at the Town Hall there. The meeting had been organised to gear up the party machinery to face the coming Lok Sabha elections. The BSP would contest all 28 Lok Sabha seats in the State, he said.
