Ready for talks with naxals: Acharya

Bangalore: Home Minister V.S. Acharya has said that the Government is ready to hold talks with naxalites if they lay down arms. He accused naxalites of attempting to destabilise the economy of the State’s coastal belt because it was an economically forward region.

On the demand by the former Minister B.T. Lalitha Naik for a judicial inquiry into the circumstances in which three suspected naxalites were killed in a recent encounter in Chikmagalur district, Dr. Acharya wanted to know how Ms. Naik could classify the encounter as fake and those killed as innocent.
