BANGALORE: The Akhila Karnataka Association for Pre-University Job-Oriented Course Lecturers has appealed to the Government to regularise the services of lecturers working in Government Pre-University Colleges, aided and non-aided colleges in Karnataka.
Addressing presspersons here on Monday, president of the association Ashok Bhavi, said that 5,100 lecturers had been handling job-oriented courses in 29 trades in 552 colleges in Karnataka for the last 15 to 20 years. Of them, the services of 162 lecturers were confirmed, during 1994-95. He said the services of the rest of the lecturers had not been confirmed till now. He appealed to Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to regularise their services at the earliest.
The association thanked the Chief Minister and the Primary and Secondary Education Minister for having assured them that the Government would look into issues raised during a discussion with the association on November 18. They also urged the Government to provide training on the latest technologies and provide basic facilities to colleges.
