BANGALORE: Burglars broke into the farmhouse of Minister for Labour B.N. Bacche Gowda and took away household articles and silver jewellery worth over Rs. 2.5 lakh in the early hours of Saturday, the police said. The Hoskote police said that the burglars entered the house by breaking open the front door of Mr. Bacche Gowda’s farmhouse in Mundur village near Hoskote. The police said that the Minister owned around 20 acres of land and a farmhouse in Mundur, and he has been cultivating crops such as banana, coconut and other crops there. On Saturday, between 12.30 a.m. and 3.30 a.m., the police said three people might have entered his house and decamped with silver articles, 14 pairs of suits, footwear, a television, DVD player, radio, luxury cushions and other household articles. At the time of the burglary, the watchmen were sleeping on the other side of the farm. Chain snatchedA woman, who was returning home after buying vegetables, was relieved of her gold chain worth Rs. 60,000 in Yelahanka New Town on Saturday. The police said Vidya A. Sharma, a resident of Yelahanka New Town, was returning home after buying vegetables. Two motorcycle-borne men approached her near a food bazaar. The pillion rider snatched the chain and escaped with his accomplice, the police said.
