Referees Instructors course begins

CHENNAI: A three-day new Referees Instructors course of the All-India Football Federation began at the Nehru Stadium on Sunday.

The theme is to build up a new breed of Instructors in the 45 to 55 years age-group so that they could serve the Federation for over a decade once they come out of active refereeing.

The course is for national referees and 28 of them from various parts of the country are attending the course.

Four Referees Instructors are in charge of the course — Milan Dutta, Michael Andrews, Antony D’Cost (all AFC Instructors) and Ravi Shankar (AIFF Instructor).

The course involves theory and practicals where in candidates choose from 20 subjects related to the laws of the game to conduct lectures and on-field practicals. They also face questions from the audience.

The four instructors make an assessment of these would-be instructors and report to the Federation. — Special Correspondent
