Sub-junior National from today

VIJAYAWADA: Over 700 young paddlers from all over the country will be seen in action in the week-long 70th sub-junior National and inter-State table tennis championship, which begins at the Dandamudi Rajagopala Rao Indoor Stadium, here on Monday.

North Bengal’s Rajib Sarkar, West Bengal’s Dev Dutta Phadnavis, Sandeepan Dey, Delhi’s Utresh Gupta and Petroleum Sports Promotion Board Academy’s Abhishek Yadav are some of the leading players taking part in the sub-junior boys’ section.

Maharashtra’s Mallikha Bhandarkar, Delhi’s Manika Batra, Tamil Nadu’s Reeth Rishya, West Bengal’s Camelia Sil and Somali Sarkar have confirmed their entries in the sub-junior girls’ segment.

The team championship will be held from November 24 to 27 followed by individual events from November 27 to 30. — Principal Correspondent
