ISB ‘docs’ extend a helping hand

Team of doctors from ISB organises a free general medical camp

At work: ISB doctors receive mementos at the free medical camp. The doctors chose to pursue MBA at ISB and learn to deliver healthcare professionally.

HYDERABAD: Driven by a sense of duty and an urge to contribute to the society, a team of eight doctors from Indian School of Business (ISB) on Sunday organised a free general medical camp at Ameerpet Government School. Having completed MBBS, the doctors chose to pursue MBA at ISB and learn to deliver healthcare professionally.

Volunteers

The commitment of the doctors to take up such a camp did not go futile, as over 300 patients visited the health camp on Sunday. Apart from the doctors, several ISB students doubled up as volunteers in the health camp.

The eight doctors have been practising medicine for many years before deciding to opt for MBA.

The doctors involved in the camp were Dilpreet Singh, Rishab Bhandari, Vikram Popli, Ritu Garg, Deepika Bhasin, Manish Matoo, Radhika Vasanthkumar and Dheeraj Jain.

The ISB students who worked as volunteers in the camp include Amit, Aradhana and Rohit Kapoor, who was formerly a Major in the Indian Army and now is the President of ISB’s Graduate Student Board.

With the camp, organised in association with Dr. M. Channa Reddy Memorial Trust and Yashoda Hospitals, drawing good response, the ISB doctors have decided to hold three more camps in the coming months.

The upcoming camps will include eye and dental care clinics apart from general health.

The ISB doctors already have a thriving practise in their respective native towns. For instance, Dr. Radhika Vasanthkumar manages a rural health clinic since past 25 years before joining ISB.

Dr. Radhika now plans to start a chain of rural hospitals in Tamilnadu, a release said.

Secretary to Dr M. Channa Reddy Memorial Trust and Sanathnagar MLA Marri Shashidhar Reddy along with the Trust Chairman M. Ravindra Reddy gave away mementoes to the doctors and volunteers.

Yashoda Hospitals provided medical support, including nursing staff, medicines and so on.

Mr. Shashidhar Reddy thanked the ISB students for making the camp a success and complimented them for their commitment towards the needy.
