Political reforms stressed

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: TDP MLA Ch. Rajeswara Rao has stressed the need for effective implementation of political and administrative reforms to check corruption in politics.

Addressing a meeting organised by Jana Chaitanya Vedika to discuss political corruption, Mr. Rao criticised leaders in government for resorting to corruption after designing major irrigation projects. He regretted that the official machinery failed to meet the aspirations of people from democracy. The political parties also failed to ensure that the machinery was people friendly.

The official spokesman of AP Congress Committee N. Tulasi Reddy said that political corruption was not alarming in the State. He said people did not enter politics to make money.

The meeting was also addressed by K. Chinnayasuri, a professor in political science at the Hyderabad Central University, and V. Laxmana Reddy, Jana Chaitanya Vedika State president.
