Traffic rules - Reader's Mail

With effective patrolling all over the city and making people understand the rules and following stringent action on those who knowingly are disobeying these, there is no doubt a welcome movement from the Law Enforcement Department, but a little more is needed as one can really feel it if moves in the city in these days.

We all know that thetraffic light system are being programmed and donated by corporate houses .

These are fitted with timer by which the time one has to stand before getting green signal to move already exists in more or less all the traffic signal systems, but none of the available system is programmed to show the time that side is allowed to use before it became yellow and finally red to bring the traffic to a halt.

As a result freak accidents are occurring every now and then and with imposition of fine for touching the zebra line this problem is going to rise in no time.

Hope our Commissioner will add this programme to the existing one on individual traffic systems in the twin city and make our movement more safe and Joyful.

Bhubaneswar

Boom in real estate

Every sector of economy seems to be affected by recession in global market. Real estate has been analysed to be worst-hit sector.

The impact is already evident.

Flat values in big cities are falling drastically.

But Bhubaneswar seems to be exceptional case.

Real estate in the capital city is rather gaining momentum. Skyrocketing prices of the land still remain unchanged. Although Bhubaneswar is spreading in all directions covering ample space, for a middle class family owning a land even 20 km away from the city is still out of reach.

Why is it happening? Bhubaneswar is the only city in the State which is growing and the State government appears to have given all its priority for its development. People from other smaller towns now want to buy a piece of land here.

However, land in Bhubaneswar has become an area of investment rather than the necessity.

The State government is accused of ignoring the dangerous trend.

During last decade, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has hardly come out with any plotted schemes.

For which the real estate actors have been able to establish their monopoly.

Dhoni should lead from front

India has won the last three matches against England. Should we call the team under Mahendra Singh Dhoni as the best One-day cricket team, India has ever produced? There are many views.

But everybody agrees that each team combination featuring Sachin Tendulkar has come close to the best. Over the years, Tendulkar has been mainstay of Indian cricket.

Around him, player like Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly have thrived.

When he hit the international cricket arena, the approach of Indian cricket players has changed.

He has set a new standard, which has even become difficult for other international players to come closer.

During last one decade, hundreds of players have moulded themselves to be at par with Tendulkar.

The results are visible today.

Even without Tendulkar, most of the members of Indian cricket team possess the capacity to win matches on their individual strength. They needed an inspirational captain like Mahendra Singh Dhoni who could present them a role model as well as lead from the front.

Gone are the days when Sourav Ganguly using the BCCI strength had politicised the dressing room.

Now he has retired and everybody seems to be playing without bringing in a thought that what would happen in the event of failure.
