Seats sought for physically challenged in BBMP

BANGALORE: Akhila Karnataka Angavikalara Horata Samithi has urged the Government to reserve 5 per cent of seats for the physically challenged in the forthcoming elections to the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, the State unit president of the samithi Umesh S. Kulkarni said that the physically challenged people had not received suitable representation in the Government till now. It is time they are recognised by Government, he added. He urged the Government to give free bus passes and free sites under Ashraya scheme for people with disabilities before the International Day of the Disabled on December 3.
