Plot to kill RSS leaders confirmed

Neena Vyas

NEW DELHI: It has now been officially confirmed that details of a terror plot hatched by some of the Malegaon blast case accused to eliminate two senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leaders — RSS general secretary Mohan Bhagwat and working committee member Indresh Kumar — were shared by the government with Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha L.K. Advani.

When National Security Adviser M.K. Narayanan and Intelligence Bureau chief P.C. Haldar met Mr. Advani on Friday they apparently showed him a recording on a compact disc of the narco test done on one of the main accused. This established that there was indeed a plot to kill the RSS leaders.

Mr. Advani shared this information with the RSS leaders. It was after this that RSS joint general secretary Madan Das Devi met the press here on Saturday. He said the plot to kill two RSS leaders was “confirmed.”

Significantly — clearly for this reason — not a word in support or defence of the Malegaon case accused was uttered by Mr. Devi. Sources disclosed that a lot of incriminating material on the terror accused was shared with Mr. Advani. They said it would be ironical if Mr. Advani or anyone in the Sangh Parivar continued to speak in defence of the accused.
