Special cleaning drive

Chennai: A total of 500 conservancy staff of Chennai Corporation participated on Saturday in a special cleaning drive at the Government General Hospital and Madras Medical College and Research Institute premises. They removed a total of 175 tonnes of construction debris and 75 tonnes of garbage from the two campuses. Twenty three trucks and an earth mover were used in the drive.

A release said the drive was organised following request from the authorities of the institutions to the Corporation to remove the garbage and debris. The Public Works Department is in charge of maintenance of the two institutions.
