Ankit Gaba wins gold

NEW DELHI: Ankit Gaba timed 17.41 seconds to take the men’s 110m hurdles gold in the 85th Delhi University inter-Collegiate athletics meet at the Chhatrasal Stadium, here on Saturday.

The results (winners only):

Men: 110m hurdles: Ankit Gaba (17.41s); 200m: Mukesh Pathak (23.33); 1,500m: Ravi Chaudhary (4.15.43).

Discus: Mahesh Yadav (36.80m); Pole vault: Sunil Joshi (1.8m); 5,000m: Dinesh (16.02.67); Long jump: Rohit Kumar (6.28m); Decathlon: Rohit Kumar (4509 points).

Women: High jump: Ritu Mann (1.38m); Long jump: Meenakshi (5.35m); 100m hurdles: Mukta Satya (19.86); 200m: Gargi Lohumi (28.07); 1,500m: Kupan (5.04.27); 10,000m: Jyoti Bisht (40.26.52); Shot put: Priyanka (13.06m).

Zoram slots four

Kovio Zoram pumped in four goals as Rohini Club mauled Bangadarshan 5-1 in a preliminary match of the Delhi Soccer Association ‘A’ division football league, here on Saturday.

Adverd was the other scorer for the winning side. Virender struck the consolation goal for Bangadarshan.

Manoj and Roshan Chettri scored a brace each to guide Uttaranchal Heroes to a comprehensive 4-1 victory over Frontiers Club. Jitender netted the lone goal for Frontiers.

Royal Club played out a 1-1 draw with Mughals Club. Ahna’s strike put Mughals ahead while Rajesh equalised for Royal.

Gorkha Heroes drew Goodwill Club 2-2 in another match. Gyan and Aafeez were the scorers for Heroes, while Manpreet shot home twice for Goodwill.
