MOSCOW: The Indian embassy in Russia has honoured a Russian TV channel devoted entirely to India to mark its second anniversary. The 24-hour India-TV cable channel broadcasts Bollywood films, documentaries and theme programmes from India, all translated into Russian, and is available to satellite and cable TV subscribers across Russia. It has seen its audience surge dramatically in the past two years to 13 million viewers in Russia and most post-Soviet states, India-TV Editor-in-Chief Vladimir Shevardenidze said. Indian Ambassador to Russia Prabhat Shukla awarded a commemorative plague to Mr. Shevardenidze in recognition of his contribution to popularising Indian films and culture in Russia. Launched in 2006, India-TV is Russia’s first channel devoted to a particular country.
