Mixed day for India

Ningbo City (China): The Indian campaign in the fifth World women’s boxing championship got off to a mixed start with one win and a loss here on Saturday.

Kalpana Chaudhary, a quarterfinalist in the last edition of the event in New Delhi, lost a closely-contested opening round bout in the 48kg division.

However, Sushma Yadav won her bantamweight bout to end the day on a high for the defending champion.

Kalpana went down 5-6 to Canada’s Jacqueline Park, while Sushma defeated Argentina’s Dioncius Debora 7-5. PTI
