Men voters outnumber women

Special camps will be held on November 23

and 30 to entertain applications

Arrangements made to publish the rolls at Gram Sabha meetings on November 24


Coimbatore: In the six Assembly segments in the Coimbatore Revenue Division and two in the Coimbatore Corporation limits, men voters outnumber women as per the draft electoral rolls.

Singanallur

In the Coimbatore South Assembly constituency, there are 91,422 men voters and 89,865 women voters and the constituency has a total electorate of 1,81,287 while Singanallur has 1,78,832 voters of which men voters are 90,732 and women voters are 88,100.

Mettupalayam

In the case of Coimbatore North, the total number of voters are 1,72,296 of which men voters are 87,567 and women voters are 84,634.

In Mettupalayam, the total number of voters are 1,77,531 of which men are 89,360 and women are 88,804, in Kavundampalayam constituency the total number of voters are 2,26,491 of which men are 1,15,036 while women are 1,11,405.

In Thondamuthur, the total number of voters are 1,78,350 of which men are 90,225 and women are 88,103 and in Kinathukkadavu the total number of voters are 1,81,600 of which men voters are 91,236 and women voters are 90,250.

The District Collector and Election Officer, V. Palanikumar, said in a release that in respect of these constituencies draft electoral rolls had been published and the same had been kept at the respective office of the Electoral Roll Registration Officers and at the designated locations such as taluk office, corporation offices and Municipal offices and Panchayat offices.

Verification

The public could verify whether their names are there in the rolls. In the event of any claim for inclusion of names especially those attaining the age of 18 on January 1, 2009 (qualifying date) could file their claim form number 6 along with 001 A. Claims and objection forms could be filed till December 2 with the respective election officers. Special camps for entertaining applications for inclusion, deletion, amendments and change of address within the constituency would be entertained at the designated locations on November 23 and November 30 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Existing residents

Arrangements have been made for publishing the rolls at Gram Sabha meetings to be held on November 24 wherein the rolls would be read out to the villagers to ensure that there had not been any objectionable inclusion and also that names of the existing residents were not left out.
