New move: Mobile Lok Adalat and Legal Literacy Chariot being dedicated to the State by Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan (sitting) in Bangalore on Saturday. BANGALORE: Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan dedicated the “Mobile Lok Adalat and Legal Literacy Chariot” to the people of the State on Saturday. This has made Karnataka the second State after Haryana to have the facility. The mobile chariot, which is a modified bus, is painted in green and it has a mobile court hall with attached facilities. It will be put to use by the Karnataka State Legal Services Authority (KSLSA) to spread legal literacy and hold lok adalats in rural areas. Start at BidarBuilt by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), the KSLSA has tentatively planned to commence the “mobile rath yatra” from Bidar. Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa, Supreme Court Judges Arijit Pasayat, R.V. Raveendran and P. Sathasivam, Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court P.D. Dinakaran, Executive Chairman of the KSLSA V. Gopala Gowda, and several High Court judges were present on the occasion. Two more plannedThe relatively new concept of mobile Lok Adalat has received a boost with the State Government agreeing to give two more such vehicles to the High Court. The High Court intends to station them at Gulbarga and Dharwad Circuit Benches.
