Staff Reporter

NAMAKKAL: Collector U. Sagayam disbursed Rs. 3.47 lakh as welfare assistance to 67 people under various government schemes at the special mass contact programme held at Animur village near here on Friday.

The assistance included maternity assistance under Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme, agriculture inputs, free house site pattas and widow pension.

Villages

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector called upon officials to enhance the service delivery in rural areas. Officials should ensure to take government services to the target people in rural pockets.

They should realise that real development will happen only when the villages grow.

The district administration has made concerted efforts to ensure better healthcare delivery to people in rural pockets.

Rural infrastructure is being upgraded in a phased manner, he added.
