Hat-trick by Murali

CHENNAI: V. Murali returned figures of six for 17, which included a hat-trick, as 20th Century completed a nine-wicket win over Appaiah Chettiar in a TNCA fourth division ‘A’ league cricket match recently.

The scores: Fourth div. ‘A’: Appaiah Chettiar 33 in 19.1 overs (V. Murali six for 17, V. Sukumar four for 14) lost to 20th Century 38 for one in four overs.

Fifth div. ‘C’: Varsity Occasionals 208 for nine in 50 overs (Sylvester Jayan 65, V.P. Viswanathan four for 62) bt Madras Fertilisers 104 in 27.2 overs (Bhisham Sahi four for 29); ICI S&RC 266 for six in 50 overs (T. Senthamarai Kannan 62, D. Jagatharatchagan 75 n.o.) bt Sir MCTM Old Boys 216 in 40 overs (Shikhar Hukku 90, P. Rajesh four for 53).

Tamil Nadu teams

K.H. Gopinath will lead the Tamil Nadu under-22 cricket team in the Col. C.K. Nayudu Trophy all-India knock-out matches scheduled from November 30 to December 21 in Kolkata.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu under-19 team for matches against Baroda (November 22 to 25) and Saurashtra (November 28 to December 1) in the Cooch Behar Trophy (Elite Group ‘A’) has also been named.

Suri-Kumar win

V. Suri and Kumar won the monthly pairs event at the Mylapore Club on Wednesday with a score of 74.40 per cent playing East-West.

P.S. Santhanam and C. Anandan won from the North-South direction with a score of 62.16 per cent.
