Pawar challenges perjury ruling
Legal Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Union Agriculture Minister and former BCCI president Sharad Pawar on Friday moved the Supreme Court challenging a Calcutta High Court order, directing that a case be registered against him and five other former office-bearers for perjury for filing a false affidavit justifying the termination of the membership of Jagmohan Dalmiya from the board.
The High Court on November 12 held that Mr. Pawar and the others, by submitting wrong documents, had committed perjury.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India had expelled Mr. Dalmiya in December 2006 under the new rules on charges of financial irregularities.
