Editors Guild seeks judicial probe

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Editors Guild of India has appealed to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to ensure protection to journalists working in Manipur.

This follows the killing of 22-year-old journalist Konsam Rishikant Singh a few days back.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, the Guild has said that journalist organisations had raised concerns about the involvement of security forces in the murder and have sought a judicial inquiry.

“The Guild requests you to take personal interest in the situation in Manipur and if necessary order a CBI probe into the murder of journalists so far.”
