Bangalore
in town: Actor Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan during the promotional programme of Longines watches at Bangalore Turf Club on Friday. BANGALORE: The media’s hopes of getting up close and personal with one Rai-Bachchan were shattered on Friday afternoon when they were invited but were kept far away from the actor. One got a first-rate view of the horses though, the venue being the swish Turf Club. The occasion was the launch of the Admiral collection of the upmarket watch brand Longines, of which Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan is brand ambassador. The model is priced at Rs. 1,10,500. Launch over, Ms. Rai-Bachchan presented the awards to winners of the Derby event. Commencing her address with a “Namaskara”, she thanked Bangalore for the “brilliant response” to the Derby. She left soon thereafter. Though she did not speak much, cricket commentator Charu Sharma who anchored the event did.
