Unbeaten 132 by Bharathi

THENI: Bharathi struck an unbeaten century as Kombai ‘B’ scored a convincing 101-run win over Theni CC in a Theni DCA Second Division league cricket match here.

The scores: First Division: Cosmo CC 119 for eight in 38.2 overs (Raguram 42) bt Medical College 108 in 24.5 overs.

Cosmo CC 161 for seven in 30.2 overs (Santhanam 49, Raja 40, Raguram 42 not out) bt BNEC College 61 in 19.3 overs.

Second Division: Kombai ‘B’ 204 for six in 30 overs (Bharathi 132 not out) bt Theni CC 103 for six in 20 overs (Kumaravel 63 not out).

Junior Free Birds CC 67 in 23.4 overs lost to Senior Free Birds 68 for five in 18.3 overs.

Kombai ‘B’ 134 for six in 30 overs bt Bodi Speed Boys 64 in 16.3 overs.

Harshath advances

Vidya Niketan’s P.T. Harshath and Kikani’s J. Naveen made short work of their opponents and advanced to the third round in the under-13 boys’ singles section in the district schools badminton tournament at the Jenney Club courts in Coimbatore on Friday.

Harshath scored a 21-8, 21-4 win over Dharshan of Perks MHSS, and Naveen coasted to a 21-4, 21-2 win over Powan Jose.
