Bangalore: The Karnataka High Court on Friday asked India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and the State-run Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd. (KSDL) to come up with a consensus on naming an arbitrator to adjudicate a dispute over contract between them. Mr. Dhoni has found himself in a legal tangle over an endorsement deal with KSDL, which manufactures the famous Mysore Sandal Soap. KSDL has alleged that Mr. Dhoni has failed to provide the Rs. 40 lakh compensation after he breached a two-year contract he signed with it in January 2006. When the matter came up on Friday, KSDL said it wanted the former Supreme Court Judge Shivaraj Patil to be the arbitrator while Mr. Dhoni preferred the former High Court judge Shivshankar Bhat. Justice V.G. Sabhahit asked the parties to come to a consensus on the name of an arbitrator and adjourned hearing of the case. He asked the parties to file a joint memo before the court agreeing on a common name for hearing the arbitration proceedings.
