SANGAREDDY: Notification for the byelection to the Karimnagar Graduates Constituency of the Legislative Council was issued on Friday. Nominations can be filed from November 23 to 28 and scrutiny will be held the next day. The last date for withdrawal of nominations is December 1 and final list of candidates will be announced the same day. Voting will be held on December 15 and results will be declared on December 20. The graduates’ constituency spreads over four districts namely -- Karimnagar, Medak, Adilabad and Nizamabad. During the elections in March 2007, R. Satyanarayana won the election with the support of the TRS defeating Congress-supported candidate Komatireddy Mohan Reddy. Though he was awarded a six-year term in the draw of lots held by the Legislative Council, he was forced to forgo the term following Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s decision that all party MPs, MLAs and MLCs should resign and contest the elections again. As Mr. Satyanarayana had not expressed interest to contest the elections once again to the Council, the TRS selected Karimnagar-based lawyer Naradasu Lakshmana Rao as its candidate.
