Award for Mysore doctor

GULBARGA: The works of Mysore-based C. Sharathkumar and Vinod Chebbi of Mangalore have been selected for the prestigious Dr. P.S. Shankar Shresta Vaidya Sahitya Prashashthi for the year 2007.

Secretary of the Dr. P.S. Shankar Pratishthan S.S. Hiremath said here on Friday that Dr. Sharathkumar’s “Arogya Nudi” and Dr. Vinodh Chebbi’s “Laingikate: Vividha Ayamagalu” have been selected for the award, which would be presented to them on January 1, 2009. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 5,000 each, a commendation certificate and a shawl.

Arogya Nudi is a collection of essays on different diseases, and is a ready reckoner on health issues. Dr Sharathkumar, a leading gynaecologist, is settled in Mysore.Laingikae Vividha Aayamagalu deals with value-based sex education and attempts to remove misconceptions about sex.

Originally hailing from Bagalkot, Dr. Chebbi is a well known sexologist and expert in community health.
