“Attack on diplomat not deliberate”

Kathmandu: The attack on an Indian diplomat on Thursday by a mob here was not “deliberate.” Neither was it intended to target the property and personnel of the mission, an Indian embassy spokesman said on Friday. S.K. Joshi, Head of Chancery of the Indian embassy escaped unhurt when a mob pelted stones at his car as anti-Maoist protests paralysed life in Kathmandu on Thursday. “This is not a deliberate attack against the Indian embassy staffer or the embassy’s property, but unfortunately it happened during the strike,” Indian Embassy spokesman Gopal Bagley said. — PTI
