Woman relieved of Rs. 50,000

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: A motorcycle-borne youth snatched Rs. 50,000 from a woman while she was walking on the road at Amberpet on Thursday.

Vimala, 50, withdrew the amount -- given by the government following the death of her husband who used to work in the Unani Hospital -- from the State Bank of India’s local branch in Azam complex.

Carrying the cash in a plastic bag, she headed for home on foot along with her daughter, Sai Rani, when the snatcher came on the bike, grabbed the bag and sped away.

‘Lady don’ held

The Malkajgiri police on Thursday arrested ‘lady don’ Farah Khan following a non-bailable warrant issued by the court. A case of suicide attempt was registered against her five years ago when she allegedly tried to set herself ablaze inside the police station.

The NBW was issued as she did not attend court.
