Safe passage for Haj pilgrims sought

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: Alleging that the Haj pilgrims were not being provided necessary assistance to obtain passports and endorsements of visas, BJP Minority Morcha State president, Haneef Ali, on Wednesday said that they would organise demonstrations demanding better facilities for Haj pilgrims.

In a press release here, Mr. Haneef cited an incident where pilgrims were allegedly lathi-charged when they met Minister for Minorities Welfare Shabbir Ali with passport endorsement enquiries. The Minister has to take responsibility for the smooth travel of pilgrims, he added.
