Consultant killed in road accident CriMe NOTES

BANGALORE: A consultant working in a private company was killed on the spot, when a taxi by which he was travelling rammed a truck on Thursday morning.

The accident occurred near Columbia Asia Hospital on Bellary Road around 1.20 a.m. The victim was identified as V. Venkatachalam (56), a resident of Jayanagar 4th block.

Mr. Venkatachalam had been to Mumbai on official work on Tuesday and was returning home on Wednesday from the airport by a taxi.

The accident occurred when the taxi driver tried to overtake a truck and lost control. The driver has been arrested and taxi seized.

Cars stolen

Two cars were stolen in the city in the last two weeks.

A car from the highly secured Baghmane Tech Park in C.V. Raman Nagar was reportedly stolen on Tuesday.

According to software engineer L.M. Sarvamangala, she had parked her car at the parking lot in Baghmane Tech Park. Byappanahalli police have registered a case. A luxury car was stolen from HBR Layout on November 7. But the case was registered on Wednesday. According to the K.G.Halli police, Sajjan Subbaiah (56), a native of Kodagu and a retired State government employee, had purchased the vehicle after taking a car loan from a private bank. He had parked the car in front of his house on 19th Cross of HBR Layout from where it was stolen on November 7. At first, he thought that the recovery agents had taken away his car. He learnt about the theft after he enquired with the bank. K.G.Halli police are investigating.

Rs. 6 lakh stolen

A thief took away Rs. 6 lakh from a car on Hennur Ring Road on Wednesday. Akhil Mehta, a dentist on Bannerghatta Road, had been to Hennur Ring Road to buy some material for her clinic.

The thief broke open the rear glass of the car and lifted a bag, in which the money was kept, said the Hennur police.
