VISAKHAPATNAM: Discipline is the base for quality education and administration in the European countries, Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University B. Satyanarayana said while sharing his experiences of his recent visit to some European countries at a press conference here on Thursday.

Prof. Satyanarayana along with Vice-Chancellor of Osmania University T. Tirupati Rao visited France, Germany and England as part of an official delegation of the State government. The delegation was headed by Governor and Chancellor of State universities N.D. Tiwari and Chairman of the AP State Council of Higher Education K.C. Reddy.

Prof. Satyanarayana and Prof. Tirupati Rao were the only V-Cs invited to be part of the official delegation. Prof. Satyanarayana returned here on Wednesday.

The AP team witnessed the teaching methods, infrastructure facilities and management of the universities in these countries.

High standards

“Education in these countries is of high standard and is improving because of a strong support in the shape of infrastructure. I hope AU would reach such standards in near future,” he said.

Regarding AU, Prof. Satyanarayana said it could enter into MoUs with some of the reputed institutions in the areas of business management, hotel management, tourism management, yoga, automobile technologies, etc.

Discussions have been initiated and follow-up action would be continued, he said. If the efforts bear fruit AU would sign an MoU with a German university for the first time.

However, AU would like to strengthen its German and French language wings.

Among the institutions visited by the State delegation were Goic University in Frankfurt, Augsberg University, UPM Industry and the BMW car factory in Germany; Open University of Yoga and Ayurveda at Narmandy in France, University of West Minister in London, Cambridge University, the British Institute of Technology and Commerce.
