Fair deal sought for city
The Andhra Development Forum has demanded that Vijayawada city be made capital of Andhra State, if Telangana region was carved out as separate state. Forum convener C. Suresh expressed the view that Vijayawada city was neglected for the past four decades, and rulers were fanatical about Hyderabad city. If division of state was imminent, Vijayawada should be made capital of Andhra state, and the Centre should develop it on lines of Gandhi Nagar. Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, and a university should be constructed near Vijayawada city, he said.
