Memorandum submitted Beneficial to teachers, students
TUTICORIN: The Tamil Nadu Post Graduate Teachers’ Association has appealed to the State Government to form a new educational district with Tiruchendur as headquarters.
In a memorandum submitted to School Education Minister Thangam Thenarasu and Minister for Social Welfare P. Geetha Jeevan, the Tuticorin district unit of the association said the new educational district would benefit teachers and students.
Tuticorin and Kovilpatti educational districts were formed after the bifurcation of Tirunelveli district when the number of schools was low, A. Mujibur, district secretary said. Over the years, the strength of teachers and students had risen resulting in stagnation of work related to recognition of schools, teachers’ appointment and transfer, the secretary said.
Handling a large number of students had become difficult with the existing strength of faculty members, he added. Formation of Tiruchendur educational district would expedite administrative decisions on appointment of teachers.
