Minister’s convoy blocked

Special Correspondent

VISAKHAPATNAM: Police resorted to mild lathicharge at Narsipatnam, 100 km. from here, on Thursday when CPI workers and leaders blocked the convoy of Commercial Taxes Minister Konathala Ramakrishna as it was passing through the revenue divisional headquarters.

The CPI leaders and workers obstructed Mr. Ramakrishna’s convoy when it was passing by the place where a dharna was being held as part of the party’s State-wide agitation demanding house sites and houses for the poor.

Police lathicharged the CPI workers and pushed them out of the way to make the way clear for the Minister’s convoy.

Mr. Ramakrishna along with Collector Sanjay Kumar and Superintendent of Police Akun Sabharwal discussed the arrangements to be made for Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s roadshow in Narsipatnam area on Sunday and went along the route to be covered by Dr. Reddy.
